Description
ThisJapanese Language
flyer is an
authentic original
. It is approximately 182MM X 257MM, the
JIS B5
size.
The flyer has sharp horizontal and vertical creases across the middle of the page, and small diagonal creases on the corners. There are no stains, highlighting, or writing on either side. There is a 1" tear along the crease on the right edge. The page is evenly yellowed with age.
The
Sony Tapecorder 503
was first introduced in June 1957 under the
Tokyo Tsushin
Kogyo
company name, aka
Totsuko
for short.
In January 1958, the company name was changed to
Sony Corp.
and the
503
Tapecorder was rebranded with the new
SONY
logo.
This flyer is for the rebranded version of the Model
503
. It shows that the Model
503
was matched to the
Sony F-3B Microphone
, pictured on the front of the flyer. Also shown is a box of the Totsuko
Soni-Tape "PW-7P"
with the old Sony logo on the box cover.
The
Sony Boy
cartoon character also appears on the flyer, but he does not yet have the
SONY
logotype on his chest.
The 503 was the second member of the 500-series started in 1955.
All Tapecorders in the series used
vacuum-tube
electronics, and operated on 100 Volts, 50-60 Hz. The frequency was selected for the local power provider by changing the Tapecorder's capstan and pinch roller.
